Exciting things are happening in Bethlehem! In the latest episode of Let’s Talk Bethlehem, I sat down with Gary Sain, longtime business owner, Bethlehem Business Association (BBA) member, and the developer behind Bethlehem Shopping Village. We covered everything from two new restaurants coming to town to plans for future development, the farmers market, and the ongoing incorporation debate.

New Restaurants & Business Growth in Bethlehem

Gary shared some big news—new restaurants could potentially open in Bethlehem, further expanding our local dining options. With the area continuing to grow, this is just one piece of a larger vision for Bethlehem Shopping Village, where commercial land remains undeveloped but huge things underway. Could we see more businesses, entertainment, medical care or even a larger retail center in the future? Gary gives us a look at what might be next.

A Permanent Farmers Market in Bethlehem?

Last summer, Bethlehem hosted a farmers market at Bethlehem Baptist Church, bringing fresh, local produce and handmade goods to the community. But could a more centralized, long-term farmers market be in the works? Gary and I explored the possibility of utilizing commercial land—perhaps near O’Reilly Auto Parts and the newer gas station—to create a high-traffic, highly visible farmers market location.

Incorporation: A Misleading Petition Process?

During our conversation, we discussed a troubling situation—a local couple was misled into signing the incorporation petition, believing they were only signing to receive more information. Once they realized the truth, they contacted the Board of Elections and had their names removed. This raises serious concerns about transparency and fairness in the incorporation process. Many Bethlehem residents still have unanswered questions about the long-term effects of incorporation, from higher taxes to new layers of government.
